Red Fondant-Need Wine

Hi, all~

I tried to color my fondant a wine color but got instead brick red. Anybody have any ideas as to what I can add to get a wine color? I added some black but as I said, I only got a brick color.

well, burgandy is a wine...and it's a color somewhere between red and blue...so would adding a bit of blue do it?

I think that might do it. Like a royal blue?

Pinch off a little and experiment. I would add a little royal blue and a very very tiny green. The green is the opposite of the red and will tone the bright color down some.

The red color I made is actually not bright, it's like a brick color. Would I still need to add a bit of green?

According to my chart-wine is made with 3 parts Christmas Red and 2 parts Rose Pink. I got my chart from www.ladycakes.com-hope this helps.

You will have to experiment with a small peice of it.... I can't really say without looking at it and a swatch of the color you want. The green will mute it more toward brown so maybe not. Try a small amount of blue first.
