Okay fellow cc members, very stupid question. What is color flow? Obviously I've never used this but it keeps appearing in different topics, what is it? What does it look like?

Thanks!!

Your definitely not stupid. It's a type of icing used to make decorations. It comes in a powder form that you add water and confectioners sugar to. You outline your pattern with it and then thin it so it's runny and fill in your outline. I used it once and hated it. I'd rather do a frozen buttercream transfer or a chocolate transfer. Someone else should be able to explain it better.

Hello, I have only used colorflow one time and that was for a Wilton class...The Wilton brand is sold in a powered form and you add it too powered sugar and I think just a bit of water...Have you seen the in the first time cakes the birds on the flower cakes? Those are made from color flow...what you do is trace an outline with FS colorflow and then add water to the color flow to fill in your design...once it your decoration hardens(it takes a couple of days to harden) you can trasfer it to your cake...The ideas with colorflow are endless you can trace any pattern with it and create some pretty cool stuff.. Hope that helped!!

The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked, or so my grandma used to say.

I have only used it in my Wilton class but I made up a couple extra's with the left over as they will last for-Ever. I too prefer the FBCT but the color flow is good if you want something that stands up off the cake. I made Tinkerbelle (in my photos) Tink is a FBCT (one of my first so she looks "odd") but her wings were colorflow so I could stand them up off the cake. It's definately something worth trying but it is a little time consuming. icon_biggrin.gif
