...but I rolled my gumpaste a little larger than needed, wet it to attach and trimmed it around the bottom of the sole with the fondant cutter.

I make the strap a bit longer than I need - then I roll my 'stitch'cutting wheel over the edges to stick them down, then I trim off the excess. The stitches make it look authentically shoe like as well!
