A few ideas come to mind--When you say funky I think whimsical style and when you say choc money I think the choc. coins you can get for in a treasure chest.
Can you give us some more specifics on the cake, like number of servings, stacked or sheet?

I'm kinda new to the whole cake thing, so I dont want to make a huge cake. I was thinking about a whimsical cake, but Im not sure how many servings yet. I was just looking for a general idea, that wasn't too to difficult

what about a sheet cake shaped into an open hand and large chocolate or fondant rectangles maybe in different colors like monopoly money fanned out over the hand? Put different denominations on each chocolate or fondant bill.

Or maybe a sheet cake with an edible image of the child on it in place of the president. Make the bill like a million dollars...

kjb I really like your second idea. That could be very cute. Where is Mountaintop PA? I am in WV very close to the state line.
I don't know about you Leah, but I am new to this decorating thing to and I want to try a whimsical cake but am scared. A sheet cake is always safe.

I'm up here in North East PA. I to am new to the cake world too however I love trying new things. I usually run out of talent half way and have a panic attack that the cake won't turn out. But, usually 3 hours later and extra BCI it's looking a lot better...or I'm really tired and that's as good as it will get.

I like that last picture of the bag of money. very fun looking!

or you can go international... with the money..
if you type in euro, pound, yen, rouble, dinar etc. in google and search for images.. you should get plenty of images. You can do a colored photocopy and stick the money in money bag..

or you can do a funky timeline of money.. from stones and cowries to plastic money.. you can make it out of fondant or gumpaste..

these ideas might be fun for kids..
