I still think that all of us St. Louis cake addicts should get together and talk cakes. I know there was a thread that tried to get everyone across the state of MO organized but nothing ever came of that. And there is the St. Louis Sugar Arts Guild (www.sugarartguild.com) that meets I think quarterly . . . that's definitely worth attending as the few I've gone to are very informative but those are definitely run like meetings (with minutes and everyone sitting in rows) so I'd love to have a core group of cakers in the area who get together every few months to talk cake, maybe share techniques and tips with each other, and have more of a social get together. If anyone is interested let's try to pull something together. I'll even volunteer to host if I'm not too far out of the way for everyone.

Hey Carol!
I hear ya! I offered my church kitchen/fellowship hall as a location some time back but had not heard from anyone. I may be to far south in Arnold. I'll have to repost that link here and see if we can get it going again.

Paula - you aren't too far out of the way at all. Getting a group together means that no matter where we meet, some people will have a bit more of a drive than others but if we keep changing where we meet then the same people don't always have to drive. You know I'm in. Melissa and I just started PM-ing about this last night and we're both excited. And I'm pretty sure there are others who will be, too (Amy!). This next month is insane for me but after that life should calm down a bit. Let's get something planned!

Melvira - if you're coming, you're doing demos! =)

I love the idea of a more informal gathering . . . just friends hanging out and talking cake.

Ummmm... I just remembered I'm busy whatever weekend it is that you are planning this... icon_redface.gif

Ok, fine, I'll be there, but all I can demo is how to take a good idea and turn it into a disappointingly incomplete cake. icon_wink.gif Hehehe. I always have grand ideas... they just don't always translate well!

Paula thanks for sharing your adventures at WOS! I was just eating every word up! I'm in O'Fallon (Mo), and didn't hear about this until after the fact. You all should definitely get together and talk cake!! If I didn't have three kids and a hubby taking up my every minute I would be there too!!!

I can sooo relate!!! I've got 4 kiddos (5 if you add in DH) and they range from 7 down to 22 months! Ha ha ha...

Melvira -- Pick a demo - maybe even your roller method if anyone isn't used to using it... Oh by the way I told that to Kathy Scott and she said she couldn't get it to work, but said it had been years since she'd tried it and would have to give it a try again as foam rollers had come a long way. As for myself ---- I LOVE IT !!! and I don't even look at paper towels any more! icon_smile.gif Just a thought... (I like to ramble ! )

Otherwise I can cover the tips I learned at the ICES - again probably lots knew them but I found them helpful!!! And then we'll leave it up to meeting and sharing stories and pictures and the lot!

OK -- HERE'S THE DRAFT OF DATES -- HOW DO THESE DATES FOR FOR ANYONE ???

June 15th (Fri) or 16th (Sat)
June 29th (Fri) or 30th (Sat)

If it's a Friday that would mean evenings... so if afternoons are better then their is Saturday, or we could do Sat evening????

Feedback Feedback --- Please !!!!
(That includes suggestions for any demos and such. )

Carol and I've been chatting since about October. We've talked about getting together too... but of course after her move and all is over. Whew!!!

I can't wait!!!

Ok, as it stands for me, Im open all of the above...lol I dont think there is any major Pokemon Tourniments that will rewuire my presents. They are normally held on Saturdays anyways. Either way, day or evening, works for me because I have a 2 yr old & I WOULDNT want to bring him. Not that he is bad or anything, but this is for ME, not my family..lol Its a ME thing! So any & all of the above is fine with me!

I thought this was going to be a sort of informal coffee klatch type of gathering where we all just laugh and share, I didn't realize we were talking about a show type setting w/demos!!

Both of those weekends are cool for me... I think we are going to be in STL already on the 29th for a Cards game (no... I stay at Auntie's house... I don't go to the game.) But, I might have that date wrong in my brain right now!

Oh, no... so sorry, so sorry, I did not mean to imply an agenda... I can be quite scatter brain. icon_redface.gif and I shouldn't have implied otherwise. It's definitely all about meet and greet!!!!

D'oh!! No, I'm not going to the game DH is going. I am, by default, a Cub's fan. Not because I care... I don't care about sports at all, but I bought my Grandparent's house after they died, and Grandpa would HAUNT me if I rooted for ANY other team than the Cubs! (And my brother would smack me one too!!!) icon_wink.gif

I'm glad it's still going to be a laid back thing... I was getting nervous!! hahaha!

Sorry,.. I guess I was getting overly excited about getting together and I just rambled on and put down what I was thinking (often happens) and didn't think about it... If we want to demo something we certainly can but first off just get to meet everyone that can attend is foremost!

I blame a lot of my scatter brain. quick responses and not thinking (duh, no more brain cells left) on 4 kids (5 if you count DH) and I need adult time! ha ha ha... I just went to a church women's retreat last weekend... my only time alone each year by myself away from my kids and home. It's only for a Friday night to Sunday noon but I wait for this each year. I even had to beg to take my cake deco classes at first!

OK, I'm done... anyone else for getting together... can you all put up with me! icon_lol.gif

I am interested in getting together to talk cake too. Carol and I have been PM-ing about this. I think it's a great idea. I live in O'Fallon, MO and work in Ellisville so meeting anywhere in the area would be fine with me. I also attended WOS on Sunday. I had a great time. Paula--we were sitting at the same table Sunday night at the 3 in 30 Minutes Fondant Lilies sharing session. I can't wait to order the cutters and molds to make the lilies.

Thanks Carol... I managed to race to Karen Ann's today and pick up a copy. (I couldn't wait for them to open.) I carried it all over even to school when I picked up my oldest! I was so pumped!!!

Thank you for noticing it and letting me know... icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

HA HA HA!!!

You are to funny Carol. (I can't wait to get together with you!) It's funny though that you did say that because when I met Norm Davis at the ICES WOS and I showed him my book after his demo he was jokingly saying something similar. icon_smile.gif

Thanks again!!!
