Hi everyone!

Today on the food network, they aired the "Recipe For Success" show and it featured the guy who owns Cake Love, who also has the show Sugar Rush. It talked about his business start-up, and I wanted to see it so badly, but I had a cake to deliver that made me miss all but the first 5 minutes of the show. I asked DH to record it, but our DVD-R isn't working. icon_mad.gificon_cry.gifthumbsdown.gif And, of course, there is no mention on the foodnetwork website of when this will air again.

icon_cry.gif PLEASE- did anyone else tape this??? I will pay for a copy!!

LOL, Crumbscakeartistry!! Actually, yes, I would love to pick your brain. I heard them mention that at one point he was down to basically his last nickel, and then somehow he turned it around. What did he do to increase his sales?

He had a business manager that stopped paying his bills and the business manager's son was using the company credit cards. He did not have to pay back the credit card money but was down to $11 on his savings. He also had a physical breakdown for the stress. His parents gave him a $2,000 loan to keep him going. What turned everything around was a article in the papaer about him. It was the cover of the food section about the lawyer turned baker angle. That is what saved his business. He also got the hosting job on Food Newtork job at the same time which I think really is what saved the business. He never once talked about paying a mortage, etc. so I feel like his house was payed off before he started this whole project.

I also love the show about Kate Sullivan starting her cake decorating business. What scares me is the way they every person has no money and cannot pay there bills. There is always some fluke that keeps them afloat. I know that if I did that that flouke would never happen...

Thank you!! Looks like the hardest part of staying in business is letting everyone know that you ARE in business. LOL No big revelations there... thumbs_up.gif

I haven't seen the one about Kate yet, I'll have to keep a look-out for that one. Thanks again!

I saw that show about cake love but didn't pay attention, I guess. I remember thinking "oh boy, lawyer turned baker, wish I was rich and could open my own shop!" What an awful thing to have happened to him! The bright side is that I think they said he just opened his 3rd bakery!
