Question: Can You Form Fondant W/ Kitchenaid

left field question:
was wondering if anyone has tried to use the KA:
pasta making attachment (the one for the grinder that forces pasta dough out through shaping plates) to make fondant ropes and ribbons
or
suasage stuffer for really thick ropes
or
pasta machine (makes flat sheets, cuts linguini)
(looking for ways other than breaking hand using clay gun)
I've tried mixing the MMF in my K.A. and it didn't work well, it's deffinately something to be done by hand.
As far as "forming" or rolling it out, I've had an idea about using a pasta roller for a few weeks, but just haven't done it yet. I see no reason why you couldn't use it for fondant. I DID try a Linguini hand cutter, which didn't work well. But see no reason why the regular rolers wouldn't work.
I have the sausage stuffer, but have never used it, so who knows if it would work? I don't.
Doug I've heard many decorators on other boards say they successfully use the ka pasta roller/cutter attachment to roll out fondant for ribbons and such, but not sure about the other ones you mention. I know that attachment you are talking about, just haven't heard of anyone using it for fondant! I'd say if you have it, though, it's certainly worth a try! anything to save on your hands!
I make MMF in my KA with the dough hook attachment. It works well! I also tried a pasta machine for rolling out thin sheets. It works fine. I haven't tried it with a cutting attachment yet.
when I did the dough hook, it just kind of stuck to the hook, even though I "greased it up" quite good.
