I went to Kohl's today because of their super sale to check out the Kitchenaids. The Pro 600's (reg $500) were on sale for $400, 10% for the early bird, an extra for signing up for a credit card, and a $30 rebate made them $310 with tax. Awesome deal! However, the only colors they had were black and Nickel Pearl. Call me picky, but I was hoping for a different color. I picked one up in the silver because it was just too good to pass up. But then I was looking on ebay and found it in bunches of colors...they are all refurbished, though, and DH thinks it's a bad idea. Has anyone had any experience with them? Any problems?

Oh, and I did find them in various colors on other websites. Do you think a different store would exchange the one I have for a different color if I didn't buy it there? Probably not, huh?

On another note....YAY! I have a mixer! I have been working my hand mixer to death. I had my first paid delivered today and I made 3 batches of BC by hand last night (one batch at a time so I didn't burn my mixer up!)...I could have done it all at once with this bad boy!

One last thing...I found one on ebay that said it was refurbished but also said it was "sealed in box". ???? Why would it be refurbished, then? When they are refurbished, doesn't that mean something was wrong with them?

Oh, and the ones that I'm looking at on ebay are from the "official authorized Kitchenaid retailer." They all have a 6 month warranty.

not sure that was such an awesome deal, as you can regularly get it on amazon for under $330, often with shipping thrown in. The $500 is the MSRP, which no one actually charges.

and signing up for a credit card to get a discount is just bad IMHO, but that's entirely offsubject.

and not all of the oens on ebay are refurbished. mine was brand new and has the full warranty and the $30 rebate. I got it for I think around $325 all told, including shipping.

I have 600 pro.I got it refurbished from official authorized Kitchenaid retailer, for $280 about 6 months ago.I had used it soooooo many times, especially to make MMF(what a life saver).I have never had any problems with it.The sales lady at the store told me that she has one for almost 4 years now,she got it refurbished too,and she never had any problems with it.Even if you buy brand new one I think the warranty is only good for one year, which is only six months longer than the refurbished kind, and you get it more than half price.
I don't know if anybody had any bad experience with it but I just love my KA.Good luck.

Refurbished is the term for any mixer that is not brand new. Kitchenaid often allows authorized retailers to use one for display. They gave me one to use for a TV spot I did on public TV last fall. I would not hesitate to but one from a reputable seller. ( I buy them directly from kitchenaid)

Refurbished with the 600 pro often means that they took the mixer back to replace certain gear mechanisms that were plastic when the machine first came out a year or so ago with metal ones. It actually should increase the life of your mixer.

I would suggest buying it from kitchenaid's Ebay store. I just got a Carolina Blue 600 pro that was unavailable from anyone other than Williams Sonoma. I paid $239.

The mixers can be refurbished, sealed in the box, and then shipped to you. It just means nobody used it after it was refurbished. If you haven't used the KA yet, another Kohls would probably exchange it for a different color, but I don't know if another store would. I doubt it. Enjoy it!

When I got my refurb Pro 5 plus, the lady at the KA Experience store (where I got it) said that the refurbs are usually just ones that have been lent out like txkat referred to or there is a slight defect in the paint or something superficial - nothing mechanical. My warranty was for 6 months and my KA is a beautiful caviar and is awesome. Even after having it for about 8 months, I love it and sometimes go in my kitchen just to look at it - it is sooo purty!

I just checked that link. Those prices aren't bad. Especially comning from KA themselves.

BTW, whats the difference between a Pro 6, and a Pro 600? They had them under different catagories.

All of my scouring of the internet finally paid off! I just checked out acehardwareoutlet.com and they have bunches of colors for $340 plus the $30 rebate...same price as I paid for this one! I think I'm going to go ahead and return this one and get a colored one.

jmt...I checked amazon and the cheapest they had new ones was $325, with $30 shipping...not such a great deal. What's wrong with signing up for a credit card? It was a considerable savings (I wouldn't do it for $10 or something), I have great credit (only a few credit cards), and I never carry a balance. Besides, Kohls gives sometimes gives you 10% off for using it.

I just got the kitchen aid pro 600 refurbished from their ebay store for $279(incl. s/h). It has a six month warranty and I got it in cinnamon red. It should be here in a week or so. From all the research I did on pricing, this seemed like a really great deal. I'm getting ready to stop working because of a back disability and intend to do a lot of baking after I come home. Sometimes mixing things like royal icing hurts my back. It's stretch for me to spend this much when I'm getting ready to take a paycut, but I know that this kitchen aid will end up paying for itself in the end. My mom had one that I inherited but I lost the storage unit that it was in. I could kick myself now.
