I always use DH cake mix. I am not a from scratch cake baker -- too afraid it won't turn out right. Anyhoo, I decided to pick up a couple boxes of Pillsbury as it was a few cents cheaper. Today, I baked 2 white layers I need for a cake I'm doing for next weekend. One layer was DH and the other Pillsbury. The Pillsbury cake turned out a whole lot better than the DH. The DH baked up above the cake pan sides and cracked. When I took it out of the pan, some of it stuck -- even though I used cake release. The Pillsbury cake baked beautifully, didn't rise above the sides of the cake pan, didn't crack, and came out of the pan flawlessly. I think I'm going to use Pillsbury all the time! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

Isn't it funny how you can swear by a 'recipe' and then find something different or better?

I tried Pillsbury once because it was cheaper (granted I have never tried it side by side with DH) and I didn't think it came out as fluffy and nice as my DH. It just didn't have the same texture. I really liked it too though. I would use it before I would use BC!

Have fun!
