I bought, Amethyst - Luster Dust & Emerald - Luster Dust .
I'm not sure how to use it or even for that matter what to use it on. please help. I want to make a birthday cake for my husbands 84 year old grandma and she loves purple.Any great ideas out there?

if you want to paint it you can mix just a little with some lemon extract, vodka or everclear and you're ready to go. the alcohol evaporates quickly, leaving just the dust on you cake. you can paint it on fondant, royal icing, or buttercream. you can also just get a large blush brush (i got one at the dollar store) and brush the dust on dry over your whole cake. that'll give it a shiny, metallic, colorful coat. what is your design idea? you could try just a white or chocolate buttercream icing, with purple flowers and green leaves, you can paint or dust the luster colors just on your decorations.

Thanks I wasn't too sure on how to use.I've worked a little with fontant.I have seen the christmas gallery and the ordements looked so real.I think I'll go with a light purple fontant top layer and darker purple bc for bottom layer with lilacs on top with the luster dust on flowers. It's all about the purple color here.thanks again Wish me luck!

Your idea sounds great. Post a picture when you've finished. I look forward to seeing your cake.
