I got this extender from a post the other day and it is wonderful....Sorry I didn't write down who posted it:
2 duncan hines cakes mixes-french vanilla
2 cups (unsifted) cake flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
2- 4-serving pkgs french vanilla pudding
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup of vegetable oil
2 2/3 cups watter
8 eggs
500 grams sour cream (I used a little over 16 oz)
Add all ingredients; mix well for several minutes. Scrape bown, remix briefly. Pour into greased cake pans containing a greased flower nail.
You can half the recipe.
I did it with chocolate cake and pudding and added 3 Tblsp cocoa powder. It was a great cake. Firm but very moist.
I usually add Vanilla AND Almond Extract, someone last week told me it tasted like cherry cake, so that's at least better than Dirt. Also, I add 1/2-1 Pkg of Instand Pudding mix to each batch of Cake batter.
Nothing extravagant, usually the only other thing I might do, is use applesauce instead of oil. But only if I have excess applesauce in the pantry or fridge.
I add an extra egg, 1tsp vanilla, and milk inplace of water in my cake mixes, for chocolate cake I add chocolate milk in place of water, and sometimes 1cup of chocolate chips. I also often add 1 - 4serving instant pudding mix in a flavor compliment the cake.
