....Now I really want to know what I should look for, where and the requisite supplies. I live in Central Canada and would prefer a Cdn. supplier if possible. I would love to hear from all of you who have used edible images. I soooooo need to learn all about this....don't know where to begin....I am so amateurish....Thanks to all who are willing to share (again!) your experiences and expertise! This is opening up a whole new world to me!!!!!
You'd need to purchase a new compatible Canon printer like the iP1500 or iP3000 from either eBay or an electronics/office supply store. After that, all you'd need would be edible paper (frosting sheets) and edible ink. I purchase those items from www.kopykake.com or www.sugarcraft.com
Printing edible images is really very much like printing anything else only your using edible papers and ink.
Other items to consider purchasing would be cleaning cartridges, a refill kit and airbrush cleaning fluid (takes care of clogs).
lilscakes,
I live in Calgary and hubby bought my printer at Futureshop for $119.00... the canon IP 3000.The only place to buy the icing sheets and inks are in the US.I like Kopykake.com because they are located in California and shipping is more reasonable than say eastern US.Check out their site!!
Hi, I recently purchased an ip6000D to use for edible images. It requires 6 individual cartridges. I purchased my ink and wafer paper from tastyfotoart.com. So far I have made one cake for my daughter just to see how clear the image was. It was unbelievably clear. I will try and attach the original photo as well as the cake photo (circle). According to the company, the ink doesn't clog so a cleaning kit is not necessary. This remains to be seen.
