Hey all,

I am doing a sculpted "cat" for DS birthday but my sculpting experience is almost non existing. I have the cakes baked and cooling (2- 7x11)
Do I fill between them with BC then freeze them, as I have heard that sculpting is easier frozen???

Thanx!
Heather

I always see people sculpting cakes frozen and filled. But never done it myself, so I am bumping this to maybe get some more experienced people to help.

I freeze them - well, chill them hard, more like it. I fill (and I might add I press my layers down rather firmly) then let it it settle on the counter for an hour or two. Then will put it into the freezer for an hour to firm up. I don't like it to be TOO frozen when I carve it - just enough that I avoid too much crumbing and tearing

The first time I did this I did not chill them at all and had a crummy mess. The cake was covered in fondant so it was not a huge deal. Naturally, I went right to CC to what I did wrong. Since then I have been chilling my cakes 1st. Works great and freezing them makes me nervous. Plus I alsys say my cakes are never frozen so...
