Pan Problems

I went to make a 1/2 a sheet cake today and my pan is turning colors. It is kinda a dull color. Will this hurt the cake or make it taste funny? What can I do to get the shine back? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. icon_biggrin.gif

not to fear...it's normal (just like getting ::cough::cough:: grey hair)

the surface is oxidizing...that's why it is dull.

won't hurt a thing.

just keep using as normal.

It shouldn't hurt the cake any ... I have some older pans that are discolored, and my cakes still taste fine. As far as for getting the shine back, take dish washing powder (like for the machines) and mix 1-2 cups in a sink of super hot water. Let the pans soak for at least 30 minutes, and then wash ... you make need to use a scrubbie on them lightly, but after that they should look pretty good. That's what I have used on metal and glass pans.
