I've been reading a lot about ganache on the boards lately. I've never made it, but would love to give it a try. I know that several of you have suggested using ghirardelli chips, but I was just curious if ganache could be made with a chopped up Toblerone bar. Thanks.
well, speaking as a chocoholic.....as long as it is pure chocolate (no nuts, other additions or cream fillings) I certainly give it a try. depending upon moisture content (chocolater bars for direct eating tend to have more) you may have to adjust amount of creme you add.
I've succesfully use Lindt bars (milk, dark and white) to make a ganache, so Toblerone would probably work too. (have been tempted to try the Lindt truffles, but the price is a major detterent)
I believe you can use pretty much any chocolate, but like Doug said, if you're using milk chocolate you'll probably have to adjust your cream amount, unless you're using a milk chocolate recipe.
Keep in mind though that Toblerone bars have tiny bits of nougat, and I think nuts, that would keep your ganache from being completely smooth.
Well, it certainly sounds delish! Let us know how it turns out! ![]()
