If It Fell Over...what Would You Do?

I was talking to a fellow baker today and we were laughing about pushing over each other's wedding cake one day just to see what the other person would do in that emergency. (Yes, we're evil....but we'd never really do it! icon_evil.gif )

It got me to thinking....what would YOU do if a wedding cake you delivered fell/crashed/broke/smooshed badly enough that you'd have to make some serious adjustments/repairs?? We're not talking a smear here.....we're talking 2 tiers flat on the floor! icon_cry.gif

I've always thought I would run back to the studio and grab a dummy cake and head to a local bakery that freezes cakes/slab cakes. I'd of course feel I'd have to reimburse my client their full money as well, but until it really happened, I don't know what my plan is.

What's yours?? icon_confused.gif

I am in no way a pro or someone who does this for money...but my gut says the first thing i would do is cry.

If one of my cakes fell it was surely because someone else caused it. I have never really entertained the thought bceause I plan on it never happening!

probably what you are saying. I am always early. I have the need to not feel rushed so hopefully if it hit the floor I would have an hour or two to get myself together and fix it.

Your idea is a good one, run to the nearest store and see what you can find.

*dances around in a circle, slaps butt, winks three times to the west all while singing "its raining men"*

there the patented "I will never drop or destroy a cake" dance has been done...no more worries

Copy cat. icon_twisted.gificon_lol.gif

That's good thinking on your part Antonia. I have no idea what I would do. But all I know is that it'd suck big time.

Hey, I like that little dance of Aliwis000's - just the thing. I do something similar just after MIL has left us following a prolonged visit!!

I would cry first, for sure. I've never cried over a cake, but that might be the event that would send me over the edge. icon_smile.gif

I think your plan, Helen, is right idea...and as soon as the nausea of seeing my cake all over the floor went away, that's what I would do.

Peraps that is how the Topsy Turvy cake got its start!

I dropped a perfect rose in class a few nights ago, it landed face up on the wax paper and the students gasped!!!!!!!! I looked down cautiously and low and behold, it looked like a WIlton stiff rose turned into a pretty cabbage rose.....I picked it up, held it up for the students and said PERFECT a cabbage rose! We all had a laugh...
