I have a cake to do for next week to say thank you to a student teacher that has been in my DD's fourth grade classroom for the past two months. THe kids REALLY liked her and several of the students asked me to make this for her (they know I make cakes) I want to do something really special to WOW the other teachers- I'm being a little bit selfish here I have to admit icon_redface.gif ... I just got certified and doing everything and anything to boost business.

Anyway, I have looked at all of the teacher cakes here on CC and want to do something special- not just a blackboard cake. Don't get me wrong, the cakes here are fabulous icon_smile.gif but I was hoping to come up with something other than the traditional idea.

Any ideas???

How about a stack of books or an apple?

I saw a cake on here with little apples, and coat hooks, and books and other little figures made out of something. I will look and see if I can find it.

Do a package with a bow on it. I have one in my photos that is round chocolate with a chocolate bow and Pink polka dots. I also did one for my daughters teacher (5th grade), same colors and that certainly turned some heads!! thumbs_up.gif

Good Luck!!!

Gingersoave- your cakes are lovely! I like the chocolate witht he bow but I am thinking that it should probably be a sheet cake to make it easier for them to serve- I won't be there to cut it. Thanks for the idea though- I saved it to my favs!

The lady that made the cake that I posted for you to look at has other views of it in her pictures. She is really one talented lady. Especially when making people figurines. She is amazing.

Thanks so much. All I can say about that cake is OH MY GOD! It is a beautiful cake and my god is she ever talented! I like the idea but highly doubt that I could pull off something like that. I'm still thinking of other ideas and will let you know what I come up with. Any other ideas are still welcome.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I had planned to do something out of the ordinary but..... ended up not feeling well early this week and am worn out so I opted to make the "safe" chalkboard cake. The chalk, eraser, apple, and ruler are fondont and the photo doesn't show it but I put all of the student's names around the sides of the cake.

Thanks again and HAPPY BAKING TO ALL!!

mrsright41401- I too liked this cake and planned to try to do something like it- or my best attempt- but just didn't feel up to it. I am getting over bronchitis that took it's toll on me this week- I have asthma and chest colds really wipe me out.

Even though it isn't what I planned to do, I am happy with the finished product- it is clean and neat and gets the message across. I'm sure it will go over well in the classroom tomorrow.

Hey, nobody understand the toll bronchitis takes on the body like me. Every cold I get becomes bronchitis dang near immediately.

You did a GREAT job and I'm sure she's love it.

Here's one, although it may already be posted here, i haven't read all the posts.
make an apple out of a ball pan, sculpt it to the shape of an apple, cut a slice out and make the inside of the apple. then, out of fondant or candy clay or whatever, make a cute little green work wearing glasses, maybe holding a little mini book or waving a little thank you flag or something cute like that. just a suggestion.
