I was wondering, what tip should I use to make the big icing swirl on top of my cupcakes? TIA

Thanks, should I start in the middle or on the outside? I was trying to do it yesterday and wasn't doing something right.

It works best with medium icing. Start at the edge and work your way around going inward and finally up! You can make them as high as you want to!

Ok, well that explains it....I was starting in the middle for some stupid reason.....Thanks for your help!!! I will do better next time.

Anytime! Can't wait to see a picture! For some reason they seem to turn out better if you are using a medium buttercream (I use the half butter, half crisco recipe). The swirls come out smoother...man is this making me hungry! icon_lol.gif

I use the Ateco #826, but I've opened the tip up ever so slightly. It works beautifully:
