Yet Again Another Thread About Black Buttercream...

...my black is more grey than black. It has sat over night and I need it blacker, should I add more black? I had to use white buttercream, because of chocolate allergies. Any tips or tricks. I am using Americolor gels.

any help wpuld be great I have to decorate in about and hour. I really need so help. I do not want to messs up my BC.

Could you try adding some brown to it and then black again? Just so you dont have so much black coloring?

The last time I made black I used navyblue then added black, I have also mixed in purple if it was too grey looking. I usually just keep a tube of black Wilton icing in the fridge for small jobs.

It's easier to just go buy the Wilton Black icing in the tube it works great.

add dark cocoa....? Others say to start with chocolate and use Americolor Super Black.

I guess this is not going to help you now, but I use Americolor super black AFTER i add in some black powdered color. No yucky taste and it gives a good base.

don't use cocoa...has chocolate in it.

try chocolate brown form americolor, not the warm brown b/c it has too much red. perhaps the navy wil work.

you can add cocoa unless you don't want any chocolate.... Others have had good results with the Dutch process dark....

Yes jopalis.... you are right cocoa work, but she said there were chocolate allergies....so that is why I contradicated you....no worries.

My preference is to start with choc buttercream, but, since allergies are a concern, I would just run out and buy wilton black icing!

I ended up using brown and super black and it worked out great. Thanks for all the great ideas.
