has anyone used the triple star tip for character cakes? If so, is it easier, how did it turn out and do you have any tips on using it?

I have used it but on certain parts I found it a bit more difficult and had to go back with the regular one to fill in little spaces. I think the idea is to keep your hand moving at different angles. Hope that helps!

It works well when filling in large areas, but be aware the star is more of a size 18 tip than a normal 16. I liked it for filling in the sides and large areas, but for *any* type of detail ... use the regular tip. It does make it go quicker though. I made the animal crackers monkey cake in about an hour, and it was covered with stars.

It definitely has its uses.

Hah! I have to laugh because the triple star was one of the very first tips I ever bought (thinking I'll be making all these star tip character pan cakes) but I have never even once used it! I really ought to give it a go--you've inspired me!

I only have it, because we were "encouraged" to buy it for the first class, so we'd know what it was like to use it. I haven't used a star tip since that first class.
