Ok- so I bought some Super Black "paste" at a local bakery supply store. I am only used to using gel colors. Is ther any or much difference?

Well...I only use Americolors but of course we all started with Wilton at one time.....I now refuse to use them. There isn't much difference except you need alot more to get your color and the toothpick thingy is a plain Pain In the A$$.

The paste colors eventually dry out and if you stir them they get flecks which don't go away, giving your frosting a speckled look. I like the liquid gels which are consistent.

Thanks- I mostly use Americolor too- but bought the paste b/c it was a bigger container and less expensive than than the small bottles. Everyone seems to be out of the super red and super black americolor!

Gel colors seem to be stronger, you need less to acheive the color you need, especially black and red
