I've just received my new printer and am in the process of setting it up. When I take the caps off of the ink cartridges, the ink drips out. Is it supposed to be like this? I'm scared to put them in the printer. Any info?

I'm pretty sure this is not supposed to happen

Hello Kat, this is Kim. When I purchased my printer and ink, my ink carts came with little pieces of tape that covered the opening where the ink comes out. I have had mine for a while and I have never had ink to come out unless I am printing something. Contact the company and see what they have to say to your problem. Hope this helps...Kim

The ink is coming from the place that the orange caps were covering. They also had tapes on them, but they were on the other side.

Contacted the company via email...waiting.... icon_mad.gif .

Ok, the leaking has stopped. Now I am trying to print a test page but I can't get rid of an error flashing light...ugh!

Try turning off the printer and unplugging it for a minute. Plug it back in and see if the error message stops flashing. If it doesn't what's the flash pattern?

The flash pattern was two flashes. I just called the company and spoke with some one about it. During the conversation my husband say oh yeah tell her the ink cradle doesn't automatically move either. Her words were "That's bad." I also cannot get the paper feeding switch to actually switch between the paper loading options. The light is locked on sheet loading.

As I was on the phone with her I looked at the packaging and noticed that the box was pretty beat up. So there is a pretty good chance the printer was broken during delivery. The package was insured so I guess I'm off the the post office tomorrow to make a claim.

I have been so busy that I didn't even look at the package until 4 days after my husband picked it up from the mail room. Honestly, I am so used to receiving beat up looking boxes it didn't phase.

So now I am pretty bummed that I don't get to play with it. icon_cry.gif

Thanks for the advice ladies... it's nice to have someone to ask icon_smile.gif

I think you are doing the right thing in mailing it back. You do not want to have future problems if it is broken. Hopefully all will be good with the next one! What model printer did you get??? icon_smile.gif
