Well, I did it. After months of debate I have decided and changed my major in college. Months ago I wrote that I was accepted to Johnson & Wales but it is way too expensive. So I will be taking the Culinary Tech degree at the community college instead. I've spoken to a few people who say it's a great program and I can't wait. Thanks to Doug for your advice and for telling me to basically go with my heart which is what I am doing. Now I just have to figure out about quitting my full-time job and going part-time because the classes and labs are sometimes 4+ hours long. I'm soo excited. And I have this site to thank for it.

I envy you being able to do that. What a great opportunity.
Good for you, that was a smart move. Our local community college has an excellent culinary and pastry program too. My grandson wants to attend the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco but we are trying to convince him to take the course at Diablo Valley College first to make certain this is what he wants to do and where his heart is. The CCA is so expensive and unless you qualify for a scholarship you end up with such a huge student loan at the end of the program that it takes years for some to be able to pay it off.
Good for you! Taking that "leap of faith" can be scary- I quit my FT job to be in business for myself 2 years ago, and I've never regretted it- EVER! ![]()
Have started considering going back to school, but not for a while. I've only been doing cakes for 2 months, and want to make sure my passion for it will last. You are an inspiration!
