Ok, so I'm fairly new to decorating. I made my daughter's Dora cupcakes for her 2nd b-day and a JoJo FBCT cc for her 3rd b-day. Also, just made an over the hill cake for my husband.

I know I don't know enough and need to take the Wilton 1 course. Anyway, it starts next week and I have a fair amount of stuff to take to class. What's the best way to transport everything?

Thanks so much for your help!

It is a lot of stuff to take with you to class. What I did is use a large tote bag. When I got to the store I grabbed a cart and put my tote bag in it and then of course you'll have your cake carrier with your cake in it.

I have a cheap tool box from walmart under $10! I also have a little tote bag for extra things. My cake carrier too! I have heard of some people using a laundry basket!

mom2c-m,
First of all welcome to CC. I bought the Wilton 101 piece decorator set which carried all my decorating tools. As for the rest of the stuff I have seen it transported in different ways, I have a big sturdy fabric tote bag that I packed my stuff in. I also had some classmates use laundry baskets and very large shopping bags. It is just your preference and what you might have handy to use to transport the items in. I did get a large round cake carrier for Wilton Course 1 from Wal-Mart for $6.00 it is great for transporting cakes since it is very sturdy and has a handle.

Wilton makes a kit that looks like a toolbox, you can buy it empty, or stocked full of stuff. The full one is about $130, but, if you use a 50% off coupon it is well worth the investment. It has a good amount of things that you will need for all 3 courses... Good Luck!!

Another tip I'd like to give you that I've given to my students, place a small square piece (about 3 or 4 inches square) of non-skid shelf liner under your cake in your cake carrier. Some of my students came into the class and they're cakes slid sideways and the sides bumped and touched the sides of the cake carrier. By putting the shelf liner under your cake board, it shouldn't shift any on your and you're cake will make it home safely and still look beautiful icon_smile.gif

Cheryl, thanks for that tip! I can just see my cake sliding all over in the car.

One more thing I want to add! Make sure you buy a cake carrier or something to transport your cakes and what no tin. Someone in my class didnt have a carrier for her cupcakes and she hit the brakes and the flew into her dash board! I stick with making cakes bc I have my cake carrier! I didnt want to spend the extra money on the cupcake carrier too!

I used a large fabric tote bag (my decorator box actually fit IN IT) and beside the box I took paper towels; wet wipes; hand sanitizer; vinyl gloves; and a cheap vinyl tablecloth (easy clean up). BUT, it ALL FIT IN MY TOTE!! Believe it or not....I used everything at one time or another. Also, the cake taker of course and the rubberized shelf paper. I had to travel one hour each way to class, so those were LIFE (oops! I mean, CAKE) savers! LOLL

Have fun! I know I did!
