using the marshmallow creme buttercream recipe from this site under fondant? I have a doll cake to do this weekend and since this buttercream does not crust, I thought maybe that would be helpful since I like to make my fondant just before putting it on the cake, I wouldn't have to worry about the icing crusting before I could get the fondant over it. Or maybe the fact that it doesn't crust would be a disadvantage here cuz it would make the fondant for difficult to "place" on the cake? Any thoughts here appreciated!! icon_smile.gif

I use crusting buttercream under fondant with no problems. I just use a paint brush and water to "glue" the fondant on.

Hi smbegg- yes, I also always use crusting buttercream under my fondant. It's not that I have a problem using the crusting b/c, I just thought the mmcreme b/c sounded really yummy and would like to try it, but only if it was compatible with the fondant, so I just wondered if anyone had ever tried it under fondant.

I think it would be fine under fondant. I've used all types of buttercream under fondant with success.

Thanks for responding y'all. This will be my first doll cake--can't wait to get started! Going with the mmcreme b/c. icon_smile.gif
