Hey all. I have my son's first communion comming up and not many ideas for a cake. I do have the open book pan and my hubby would really like me to use it. Any ideas on how to decorate it? Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advanced to anyone with help

what about transferring his picture to one side of the book and writing "1st Communion" along with a quote from the bible or another source on the other side of the open book? Decorate it with the colors of the outfit you will have him wear.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I've done a bunch of communion cakes. Check my photos. Most of them are for girls but there are 2 for boys.

Goodluck!

I like your husband's idea of using the book cake. A chalice and host on one side; and either a congratulation to your son on the other, or an appropriate scriptural or liturgical quote.

Go to the search box and enter First Communion. There are pages and pages of pictures and quite a few have also used the book pan. Good Luck.
