I have never worked with MMF or fondant and will be using it for the first time on a co-workers retirement cake 3-23-2007. How far ahead can I start to make the flowers and decorations? How should I store them? Will they be safe to eat?

If you are making gumpaste flowers you can make them as far out as you'd like. I store mine in clean pizza boxes and I even have some royal icing flowers that I've had for months now.
