I appreciate all the help that I received on generating ideas for a customer whose mother is turning 70 and wants and Irish theme to her cake. You had some really GREAT ideas. Well, I presented them to the customer and she just wants something much simplier....

"White BC with green shamrocks and green flowers"

Okay I can do that, but I am struggling with the green flowers. I definitely want to add some green leaves, but I was thinking that I could incoorporate some other colors (she doesn't care).

Tell me what you think about this, or provide your ideas. This is for a full sheet cake..... Purple roses (or other larger flower) white, yellow, and green drop flowers.

Will that look good? What else goes with Kelly Green that will bring a little color variation to the cake?

well, to be perfectly irish the flowers would be orange. (the irish flag is green, white, orange)

but purple is nice too (oops...my bias toward my favorite color is showing!)

could do two-tone roses...orange/gold or yellow w/ orange hint.

i'd put on the shamrocks and borders in Kelly Green. Frees you up to make the flowers more varied in color/tone.

Thanks Doug.

I so appreciate your input. You have given my cake a lot of thought and time and I do appreciate it!

Purple is my favorite color too.

I like Doug's idea of keeping it "truly Irish" lol and going with the orange flowers. You could also use different shades of green in your shamrocks and leaves with the flowers to change it up a bit? icon_smile.gif

lov2cake,

i was just thinking of your post last night when i had rec. a mag in the mail that had st. patrick's things in it and it had some irish inspiration plaques and one of them said this that i just loved, "

-Irish Blessing -

May your home be filled with laughter,
May your pockets be filled with gold,
And may you have all the happiness your irish heart can hold"

i thought that would be something really nice to put on a cake. if not you can do a little something on the side with that like on a card or something....
just an idea
