How many servings would a 2 tiered cake in the following approximately do? (Party servings, not wedding).
These are square 3 inch deep pans, not 2 x 2"
10" bottom, 8" top
Or
8" bottom, 6" top
And just so you know.., I did a search before asking, but all the serving guides are for 2" pans, not 3"....
I go by cake height when I figure servings. assuming you are using the 3" pans and they'll be that high for each layer, then your cakes will be at least 6" tall (if not more)? if so, then a 1x1" serving is pretty big, IMHO. Take a piece of paper, draw out your cake pan, and start drawing in 1x2 (or whatever size you want) blocks - count them and you'll get the serving sizes YOU are comfortable with. Everyone has a different measurement, it seems.
They won't be 6" tall... each layer will just be a 3" torted & filled...
I dont think it makes a huge difference when you are talking 2 or 3 inch pans really. I drew it out at a 2 inch by 2 inch serving x 3 or 4 inch high and this is what I came up with. I say for 10 inch about 24 servings and 8 inch 15 servings and 6 inch 8 servings. It is a fairly generous portion.
Check out the wilton guidlines. At the bottom of this page they have four links. One to wedding servings for 2" cakes. One to wedding servings for 3" cakes. Then one for Party servings for 2" cakes and then one for Party servings for 3" cakes.
