Ok i need some flag protocal advice!!

I am making a cake with two fondant flags.one korean and one American.
this is for an adoption.

I will have the two flags and a sleeping baby.

my question is where do i put the American flag- from what my DH says and from what i can find online it should be on the right with the blue to the left. does this sound right?????

not sure it matters if it is on the right or the left of the cake, but I would put it so that the blue field of stars is in the upper left corner of the flag as you look at it.

http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html#1

"11. When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace. The order of precedence for flags generally is National flags (US first, then others in alphabetical order in English)"

From the image and description, the US flag should be on the left, Korean on the right, of equal size. There are images on the link if it helps.

well....if you're looking for flag protocol, technically, the image of the flag is not supposed to be on anything that is edible or worn (unless it's a lapel pin). So, as long as you give equal space and height and size to both flags you'll be fine. And the field of blue does go on the upper left.

The American flag needs to go on the right. It is not correct to have it on the left because it appears as it would if we were retreating.

That's what my husband says, he's former Army and very sensitive about the flag.

the field of BLUE goes on the left. In case anyone's confused, the field is the blue part with the stars. The main stipulation given to the displaying of the American flag is that the field of blue be on the left when displayed. To have the field of blue been on the right would make the flag appear backwards or in retreat. I was in the Marine Corps. We're pretty sensitive about that stuff.

When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street.
