What Does It Take To Get Legal In Va?

I am curious to know what I have to do to get legal to operate a home based bakery in VA- any of you from VA who are legal, any tips/advice? I only bake for fun right now, only family occasions, but would love to get legal!! Thanks In advance!!

Here's a bump for you. I'm also a hobbyist in VA, but would like to get legal one day. The only thing I know is that the agency you need to contact is the Department of Agriculture.

I am in the process of becoming legal, the only thing I saw from her information that is different here in Loudoun (my county) is the home zoning permit (can't remember the exact name) is only $40. Some of the tax stuff is different and a little confusing if you are going to only have one person's name in your company. The difference is you can incorporate it into you personal taxes instead of filing it alone, even if you are an LLC. I am going to do that, I think it will make tax time a little easier for me, I just need to reread all the material and make sure I understand it correctly. Also the people you talk to in Richmond about the Health inspection were SUPER nice!! They answered all my stupid little questions and gave me little tips.
