I want to make a castle cake for this Sunday, to serve to about 15 people. I've never tried one before, and have no idea even how to begin!

If anyone can give me instructions for a easy, basic castle cake, I'd be sooo appreciative!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Moshiac! I've made a castle cake a week ago. You can look at it in my photos. I'm not sure though if you're making one for a prince or a princess icon_smile.gif If it's for a princess, then let me know. I'd be more than glad to help you out.

I have a wonderful design for a castle cake that I got from an old Betty Crocker "Cooking with Kids" cookbook. I'm fuzzy on how it's done, as it's been a while and I'm currently at work & unable to look it up. You start with a 9x13 cake, that much I know. I'll check it out when I get home, and pass along the instructions. It's just cutting the cake into rectangles and stacking the cut pieces. VERY simple. My kids made it with their grandfather for a cake contest for Cub Scouts.

for my castle cake I used 3 8x8 square cakes and stacked them...then for the turets on the sides I used oreos covered in fondant. It was so easy and the most time cosuming part was making all those little stones, but there are quicker ways of tackling that...I just tend to do things the hard way. I hope this helps a little.

Here is a castle I did years ago for my niece's very small birthday party. The only cake is the square tier behind the candles iced with BC. The rest was styrofoam covered in plastic wrap and then decorated with R.I.

I made a 10 inch cake for the bottom, I think 6 or 7" for the top. The turrets are paper towel rolls covered in fondant. The tops of the turrets are ice cream cones covered in chocolate. I first started looking at pics and drew a castle design I liked and went from there. Good luck and have fun!

I used a princess cake pan from wilton then added additional cake on each side and just cut it to the shape I wanted it to be. It turned out to be one of my cutest cakes ever. I put a Disney rincess figure in each window too. There's a picture in my gallery if you want to see it for ideas. GL.

In searching I found this and it seems very simple with easy directions and pics for a visual!! I plan on using it for a cake I am going to make for the K4 and K5 girls slumber party at church.
