I am new to fondant and even cake decorating. so , I don't have any tips but would love to know how to make this stuff taste better! yuck...I just don't like it and neither do my kids and they usually will eat anything! lol I know you can flavor it but what do you all suggest? Thanks in advance and I am sure Cori1207 will appreciate all your veteran advice!

I would recommend that you grease your work area with Crisco so that it wont stick to the work surface when you go to put the fondant on the cake. It works better than icing sugar.

Be sure to have b/c under the fondant so that the fontant will stick to the cake. Also be sure that the b/c is smooth because bumps will show through the fondant.

Use gloves to colour your fondant or your hands will be different colors for along time.

Good luck!!

My recommendation is to use the MMF (Marshmallow Fondant) recipe from this site....its cheap to make (tastes a whole lot better than the ready-made wilton fondant...that my 5 year old niece wont eat) and you can add flavorings to it (my fav raspberry extract)......then just have fun playing around with it (I also knead in a bit of shortening after I make MMF....seems to make it stretchier for me).

Me again. You could use the Marshmellow Fondant recipe on this site. It is good and you could flavor it also. I have done almond flavoring. It is good.
