What exactly is "bump" I keep seeing it on posts throughout and can't figure it out! THanks

It is mainly used to get the subject/issue to come back up where more people will see it and hopefully comment on it.

It stands for "BRING UP MY POST" and it does just that; it "bumps" up your thread.

bump= bring up my post

Like namaman said, it brings the post back up to the top of the screen so more people will see it.
