I just wondered if anyone else on this site has heard of Flylady. My sister and I have been trying to do her program for a little while and now that I am about to get my commercial kitchen open and hopefully have a lot more business I would really love to get some more order to the rest of my house, paperwork, etc.... I really like her and I just wondered if there was anyone else out there with a love for her and cakes!

I know it has been mentioned here before and a few people do it. I don't but need too! You might do a search for flylady and see what pops up.

Flybaby here! lol icon_rolleyes.gif Well....sort of...HA! I go back and forth with it. Love the ideas and everything about it really...I just seem to have a hard time sticking with it. My house lately has been total CHAOS...Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome!!!! lol icon_lol.gif Guess I need to start flapping away again. In fact, that's my New Year's Resolution...stick with the Flylady program. I no longer want to be the person whom people have to call before they come over...lol. She's a great woman, the Flylady! But I don't think she would approve of our little "addiction" to CC here....lol. That is, unless we only spend 15 minutes at a time here. icon_lol.gif

I'm an ex-flybaby. I LOVE the idea of the Flylady program, but it's just not fitting with my lifestyle. I mean, that woman does not have even one single small child at home, undoing everything she has done. If all I had to do was pick up after myself and my adult husband, I wouldn't need her program anyway! So, I created my own routines. I've decided that this is a temporary situation, the kids will grow up and move out, far far away eventually.

Stephanie: go to www.flylady.net - that's the web site.

lotsoftots - I sympathize with you on the kids undoing everything right behind you!! lol I have 3 kids and DH just doesn't understand why I can't keep the house straight. He's not here while I'm vacuuming the den for the 3rd time that day because my boys came running in from outside with a bucket of sand...or whatever excitement has happened that day!

That's really my only hold up from "flying"...having kids that behave as kids...lol. But I have started teaching my almost 6 yr old to spend 15 minutes a day just helping me out with chores...mainly ones that pertain to him. Like getting together his dirty clothes and taking them to the laundry room...and putting them in the right basket. Or taking a bag and going thru the house to collect stray toys/books. And every day he does it without whining or complaining, he gets a dime...I know that sounds like a pittance, but to him it's big money! I have a bowl I filled with dimes and he gets to pick out the shiniest one he can find. Then I gave him two jars...one for "Funny Money" the other for his "Guitar Fund". He gets to choose which jar he wants to put his money in every time he gets some. Once his "Guitar Fund" jar is full, we told him we'd take him to buy a guitar. So when he sees there's more money in the fun jar than the one for the guitar, he plays catch-up with the other jar. The whining has almost completely stopped whenever I tell him it's chore time. Plus he's learning he's got to clean-up after himself & help out everyone else, too. The other day he actually asked me if he could vacuum!!???!!! icon_eek.gif I nearly fell out...lol. Of course, I said yes and he did it...and did a good job too..I was impressed...lol. But he still isn't real keen on indoor chores. However, you push him out the door and hand him a rake or a broom to sweep the porches and before you know it the yard is all cleaned up and he's grinning ear to ear with pride for doing a good job for Mamma & he doesn't whine once...lol icon_smile.gif

Sorry so long...just thought I'd share & comiserate...lol icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif

I have read alot on that website! I am such an organized person however, a child, a husband, full time job and cakes on the side, don't agree with that lifestyle icon_smile.gif Plus we moved into a new house a couple of months ago and it's much bigger than the one we used to have. FlyLady has some great tips for people who aren't organized people but want to be. Her ideas don't fit in with my life just b/c she doesn't organize and clean like I want. Does that make sense??? I love her idea about putting a timer on and cleaning and throwing away stuff for a few minutes. I'm also semi-using her cleaning schedule but I've made it my own. I clean certain rooms of my house really good each weekend and rotate throughout the month.
It may be good for you--only way to find out is to try it out or like I said, try some of her ideas but make them your own thumbs_up.gif
Good luck!!!
