Hi everyone, I'm very new to making cakes, I've only made 2 and I've never used fondant. I made some fondant and I put it in a tupperware in the fridge a few days ago because I didn't get around to making the cake right away. My question is how long can fondant stay good for? Can I make my decorations and freeze them, or put them back in the fridge? I'm sure this question has been asked before but I couldn't find it. TIA

Fondant can stay good for several months if you take a few precautions. I don't suggest refrigerating it, it is best and will last longest if kept at room temperature in a cool, dark place. Here are a few tips:

Coat fondant ball for storing by coating it with a good layer of Crisco shortening, wrap in a plastic- type wrap and then put it in a re-sealable bag and squeeze out as much air as possible, and place it in a tupperware.

If hard, soften by microwaving in increments of five to ten seconds (start off with 5) on high.

HTH,

Jenn
