Any Suggestions For How To Make Chocolate Coating??

Does anyone have any suggestions for making a chocolate coating? I'm going to dip peanut butter balls and oreo truffles into it. I usually use chocolate chips and a pit of paraffin, but I don't want the "waxy" taste in it. I thought about using fondant in melted chocolate chips, but I'm not sure if that would work. Any ideas???
Choclate chips need paraffin to smooth them out because the chocolate is actually designed to hold it's shape... not smooth out.
You could use candy melts... Merckins (sp?) makes some nice ones ... and you could add some good dark chocolate if you like.
If you use regular chocolate (solid blocks), you will have to temper it, which isn't difficult, but it can be temperamental (a small amount of chocolate in melts doesn't need to be tempered)
I just use baking chocolate, or a regular chocolate bar like Hershey's or Cadbury, etc... I put a Pyrex bowl over a simmering pot of water so it works like a double boiler and it works like a dream, no wax or shortening needed.
