I have my first cake for others this weekend! I've done everything before for family or close friends. This is for dd's best friend's birthday. It has to match her pinata (castle) and feed at least 9 kids, and the rest is "whatever." Flavors? Fondant? Filling? "Whatever."

I'm making the WASC, but creme bouquet instead of almond flavoring. Regular bc, and bc filling. Still debating on doing a thin coat of mmf or not; some kids like it, some don't. It's a gift, and will feed way more than the 9 kids, but I can't scale it down any further and get it to look right.

I'm going to be a mess Friday night! Most of my cakes come together as they are built, and don't usually look exactly like I had planned. This has to match something! icon_cry.gif

Oh you poor girl! What an awful feeling that is but I know you will do great! I would scratch the fondant since it is for kids and just do a really smooth bc with cool deco's. Zmama will zchill and do zee cake much justice! icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you! But, ya know, I was doing a practice castle cake tonight that dd had requested, in miniature. It was stacked up, 2.5, 3.5, 3.5, 6 inch layers for a single tower castle. Also a beautiful shape for a dress. Happened to have my doll pick from the wondermold pan handy, and was playing with fondant. Get the idea? icon_rolleyes.gif Yep, the castle turned into a princess, complete with the miniature roses that were for the cake Saturday.

If that happens Friday, it'll go from one castle to three princesses! The cake I am supposed to do is http://store.americanpartyoutlet.com/diprcapi.html

I vow to actually make the cake I plan this time! Really! Unless the bday girl changes her mind tomorrow when she sees the princess.....

ROFL - this will work now! She saw the doll cake, and changed her request to a princess cake with mmf. Now, THAT will be much easier!

I'm glad she changed her mind. I think the princess cake will be a perfect compliment to the castle! Smoothing the skirt is easy. Use Melvira's foam roller method, and alternate with the viva method as needed.
Don't forget to post pics!

It's done! Can you tell who it is?

The birthday girl loved it! I dropped it off today for the party tomorrow. OMG that house is a princess heaven! I think the Party Store must have moved in!

Thank you!

I've been doing doll cakes for over 10 years, and this is the first one I have a picture of. icon_rolleyes.gif
