My mom got me an icer tip for Christmas and a 16" bag. I cut the bag so the tip would fit in it and it seems like it should work. I don't have any cakes to do until beginning of January so nothing to do right now!!

What size bag do you use or suggest? Do you prefer to use this with a big cloth piping bag or the smaller vinyl decorator bags?

I use an 18 inch disposable bag and it works great!

I use mine with a 16" featherweight bag, but to be honest, I feel that a larger bag would be better.

Berta,
Where do you find the 18" disposable bags? I have never seen disposables this size, but I would like to try one.

I buy them directly from CKProducts because I have a business account, but you can get them at their retail site for $25.50 for 100:

I love them because they work great with the larger tips and I don't have to keep refilling it!

I use the 18 inch feather weight bag but read somewhere on here that they use a gallon ziploc type bag too.. I may try that

Wilton says the 16", but they are dealing with new decorators and a little bigger should help the refilling. I only use the 16" but that is what I teach with so that is all I have.

I use the Ateco 21" bag and it has a plastic lining inside.

I bet that 21" bag holds alot of icing, I may have to try one that size.

I use the 18" disposable KeeSeal bags. I tried the 21", but it was just too much to handle at once. I have used the 16" featherweight bags in the past, but just hated to clean them and they always smelled musty.

Wilma,

Yes, it holds alot of icing, but you don't have to put alot in there.

Stephanie,

That is what I was thinking, that and about the wedding cake that I made for my son's wedding last August. It served about 300, and it seemed like I was constantly filling the 16" bag.

Thanks for the posts. I hate cleaning the featherweight bags too (no dishwasher in my house!). I'll have to see if I can find any of the disposable larger bags before ordering them.

On cleaning the Featherweight bags the new Dawn foam works wonders, I have always used Dawn but the foam cleans them so they are almost new feeling. No the color still stains and doesn't come out.
