So today I was at a party store that has a few cake supplies and I met another local non-licensed cake decorator here. There are only two licensed bakeries aside from the grocery stores here and there products are pathetic, but apparently there are a TON of non-licensed decorators. Anyway, I introduced myself and told her who I was, and you should have seen her face go from warm and friendly to dark and extremely rude. She wouldn't even tell me her name, and she yanked her hand away from me. icon_surprised.gif

As she was leaving and I was getting in line I said to her, "Nice meeting you!" She turned and glared at me and left. icon_eek.gif

I'm used to the really helpful nice people like on here and in my old cake decorating club. It was ridiculous.

I love the title of your thread! icon_lol.gif

I hate that she was so rude to you, but glad to see you didn't take it to heart! Perhaps she is just insecure?

She must have been shocked from actually touching greatness lol. Bless her heart, her mamma must not have raised her right.

The thing is that she had to be at least 20 years older than I am. CRAZY!!! Most people from that generation have much better manners than people from my generation.

UNBELIEVABLE!

You haven't robbed a bank, committed a murder, or stole someone's husband have ya???? icon_surprised.gif ...just kidding. Go figure, people can be off the wall for no apparent reason. I always smile or nod to folks like in a grocery store, lots of time they just ignore my gesture. Some just ain't got a friendly bone in their body.

Thank you everyone - I am glad I'm not the only person who thinks her behavior was ridiculous.

Guess this is not a good sign for me starting a cake decorating club here, huh?

Wow. How unproffesional of her. I actually got to hang out with an good cake decorator today and we had so much fun exchanging tips and stories. I'm always looking for other decorators here that I can refer customers to when I can't do a cake. She made a big mistake.

I hope so! I am wanting cake decorating friends here so bad. Maybe she'll realize I was just being friendly! I'm a massive extravert, I wasn't being confrontational, just myself.

...I dont get it....because you are a decorator she was jealous? Or because you are a non-licensed one?

Who knows. I introduced myself like this,

"Hi, I'm Rachel *****, I'm a cake decorator new to the area."

That's it.

Don't you know there is a rule that there is only allowed 1 cake decorator per town? I mean common, how dare you actually be into cakes when she alone can do them. icon_twisted.gif I don't get people like this. How rude! All I can say is she must know who you are, which is a GOOD thing, that means the word of your awsome cakes is already out!

That is so horrible Rachel !!

Is there a cake decorating store in M'ville. I live in Gray and hate driving all the way to Warner Robins to find good cake stuff.

I am an amature but would love to start making cakes.

I have to agree...she does sound highly competitive. Too bad for her. That's just immature of her to react like that. She's making the nice cake decorators look bad. icon_smile.gif

OR.... it could be that she caught a cramp from this stomach thing that seems to be floating around Georgia and needed to make a hasty exit. I know from having it myself, it can make your face pucker mighty quickly if a pain hits you.

I was noticing that you were from Georgia so I wander where that ladies southern hospitality was? Way to turn the other cheek.

LOL! You must be from the south. icon_lol.gif

I agree, and she should be embarassed by her behavior.

Lauren,

Jax Party Supply has a small corner with of the store with cake supplies.

Turn right at the Zaxby's and it's on your right.

And while you're in town, let's get together!

people are weird, insecure, and jealous. It shows itself in rudeness. It's too bad there aren't more supportive people near you who do the same type of work.
