I am new to decorating cakes and I have a request for a football cake which I was going to do a sheet cake with the football on top but she has requested whipped frosting on top and I have never made this frosting. Should I buy the box of whipped frosting that is at Michaels or Hobby Lobby for this and can you decorate with it easily. Help please and if anyone has any pictures they have done on this I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Oh yes!! Buy the box of Wilton whipped icing. It can be used for decorating (not roses though) and it taste wonderful. I have tried to make my own whipped icing but it usually is only good for icing the cake won't stand up to decorating, borders, etc. I really love the consistency and taste of the Wilton. Important note: refrigerate your bowl and beaters before you start, it really helps.

Thanks for the information. Also I noticed you have done some transfers on your cakes. Where do I purchase these sheets and do you use edible ink? I'm new at this.

I like to use Pastry Pride, it comes in vanilla and chocolate. I buy mine at Smart & Final. You can do borders and even roses, if you work quickly. Also, you can add a small box of instant pudding to it and change the flavor.

I use the wilton boxed whipped frosting all the time and you can make roses with it. If you look in my photos the coral father's day cake is made with it.
