I don't like chocolate buttercream...I want a thicker, darker chocolate icing/frosting that I can use on layer cakes and cupcakes. What have you cakies got?

I know you don't really like buttercream, but this is what I make usually, and it's based on a buttercream recipe:
2 lbs. confectioners sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 T vanilla
3 T cake flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup DARK COCOA (dutch processed)
1/3- 1/3 cup brewed coffee

Blend slowly for a few minutes. You may need to add a little more confectioners sugar to make to desired consistency.

The dark cocoa and coffee really gives it a rich rich flavor.

The back of the hershey's cocoa powder can has the MOST AWESOME iciing recipe (I usually double the recipe) and its easy to work with, you can even make roses with it. It's really yummy, I can just eat it by the tablespoons!!!!!!!!

I made the chocolate syrup frosting from this site yesterday, and it was delicious! It was fudgey, and didn't taste like a chocolate buttercream at all.
