So, I wanted to get some information from all you wonderful seasoned and non seasoned ladies on here.

I am looking into getting some new rolling pins for decorating and wanted to see what everyone uses. I am looking for a large sized one for rolling out MMF and reg. fondant to cover cakes and also a smaller on that I can use to roll out smaller batches of gumpaste/mmf/fondant etc to make flowers and other small decorations.

what do you recommend?

Thanks!
Crystal

I bought an expensive heavy kitchenaid rolling pin which was supposedly 'non-stick'! Everything sticks to it, even with crisco, corn starch or conf. sugar!
I usually use my old fashioned wooden one.

I found a really nice marble one at a thrift store, I use that for rolling out my fondant for cakes and then they have the little ones in the cake decorating section at wallymart for the small stuff. Or you could cheat altogether and buy a dowel and cut it to length getting the diameter that you need.

I have Wilton's small and large rolling pins for fondant/gumpaste. I have kept my old wooden one for cookies (I'll never give it up).

I bought a nice silcone pin at walmart under ten dollars. It works great, MMF, Chocolate clay, Cookie dough.

Plastic drain pipe works well!

Plumbing PVC pipe is what Ron Ben israel as well as other cake greats use. They cut it to size and it doesn't stick. Of course when you buy it, it should be washed, but I know he uses it.

See, that is why I depend on everyone here!

I never would have thought about drain pipe even though I am sure I have seen that on here before! I was looking this morning and found the small and large Wilton ones on Ebay for a pretty good price but I wanted to see what everyone recommended!

Thank you so much! You are the bestest!

I got an Ateco pin ($55) + the basketweave sleeve ($35?) and the diamond sleeve (less expensive than basketweave) on E-Bay from a seller that sells Ateco stuff. I got all 3 things for $55 +s&h. The cost of the large maple (heavy) rolling pin alone!
