Hi everyone,
I just got done making a cake and I had a lot of problems smoothing because I kept noticing little fuzzies in the icing after I used the VIVA towels. So I kept picking them out and having to smooth but they kept coming back each time. I noticed this once before, but haven't had this problem in awhile. Does anyone else ever notice this? And what do you do about it? Thanks!!-Alison
Call Kleenex and report the problem. There is a black code printed on the package, they will probably want that. It sounds like something's wrong with the adhesive. For your cake, I don't have advice... but I bet you have a bad batch of paper towels. You'll probably get some coupons, too!
I've had that problem for awhile now so I started using computer paper and it works good for me.
I have often wondered about that, I don't use Viva for smoothing because I use IMBC and it doesn't crust. But I do use Viva for cleaning glass and I have noticed it leaves lint on my glass top tables. Made me wonder if it does this in cake icing as well.
What makes Viva different from other paper towels is the adhesive that sticks the fibers together - it's made only for Kleenex by one manufacturer. The company that makes this adhesive announced that it was selling that division. This was a year ago. So all the employees at the plants and in R&D have been working for a year not knowing what will happen to their jobs. So, I don't think it's getting the same level of quality control that it has had in the past.
