my son is turning 5 and wants decorated cookies for his class. Of course I said I'd make them for him, but I've never done decorated cookies
I'm going to use the NFSC. Do you recomend royal icing or fondant? (I need something easy that I can't bucher to badly. They are going to say "Trent's 5" on them and he wants sugar sprinkles too.)
Also, if I make these up 4-5 days ahead and wrap them will they still be fresh?
sorry for all the ?'s Thanks in advance!
I have not tried fondant yet but I know alot of people use it. Go to the articles and use the one on how to decorate cookies, it will tell you exactly what to do. You will want to make them in advance so you can let them dry before stacking/wrapping them.
I'd suggest MMF because it's reallly easy to use and still tastes good then pipe on Trent's 5 with RI and the will still be frest in 4 or 5 days.
fraggle I do too, and be sure to add a tsp of karo light syrup to the MMF recipe, color it with gel paste into the melted marshmallow too - all things we had to learn the hard way that do make it much easier ! Also know for cookies do spread a little bit, that you'll have to lay out your fondant next to the cookie, see if it's large enough? You can take your roller and roll from the middle to enlarge it just a little, without changing the shape of the edges !
good luck with it !
