I have a gumpaste tiara going on top of a stacked cake. It already broke once when I was making it but I "glued" it back together and it seems okay now but the darn thing is sort of fragile.

I'm trying to decide if I should put the tiara on now and glue it down with royal or something and drive it like that. Do you think the motion of the car would crack it?

If I wait until I get to the customer's house I can just sit the tiara on top right before I carry it in. But then how do I transport the tiara without it breaking before I get it there?

Can you tell I'm a nervous wreck about this one? icon_cry.gif

I wouldn't put the tiara on until the cake is set where it belongs. Then in a great flourish, produce the tiara out of a small box (big enough to hold it of course) that is lined with tissue paper, and place the tiara on the cake. I would also leave the box for the customer to put the tiara back into when the party is over if they want to keep it for a keepsake.

I attached the tiara before transport for the cake in my photos. I let the icing set up well before I left the house so that the top layer and tier were pretty much one unit. That way, had it broken when I put it on, I had time to fix it. If you wait to put it on at the house, you run the risk of it breaking again and then not having the time or supplies to fix it. Just my opinion tho!!
