I need some suggestion for bite-sized deserts for my family's Christmas celebration. We are grazers, grapping one as we move about and visit. The day is so much easier if we don't use silverware!

I was planning on doing cake balls, sugar cookies, and a cheese cake cut into small pieces and dipped in cholate. I need 2 or 3 other chioces. I looked through the recipies, but there are too many choices. What are your families favorites?

Thanks for you help.

1) stuffed dates

take a whole pitted date, stuff it (repit it?) w/ a whole pecan, dredge in powdered sugar.

2) rum balls
crush graham crackers, add cocoa to taste, sugar too, then the rum enough to make sticky so can form balls. dredge in powdered sugar.

We can't celebrate anything around here without some type of brownie. Have you considered a chocolate fondue with some fresh fruit and marshmallows? Shortbread is also popular here. Oh, and fudge! We love us some fudge!

Edited to add: Rice Krispy Treats!

I agree, maybe some bite size brownie variations would be good. What about mini cupcakes, cheesecake bites, regular drop cookies (either regular size or minis)...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll keep thinking and come back!

These mini pecan pies are super yummy (just don't overcook!) and look beautiful when drizzled with chocolate (although dh likes them better without the chocolate taste).

One Bite Pecan Pies Kraftfoods
Prep: 20 minutes, Total: 1 hour 55 minutes, incl. refrigerating

4 oz Cream cheese, softened (1/2 an 8 oz brick)
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 cup flour

1 egg
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
¾ cup finely chopped pecans
3 squares semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted

BEAT: cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add flour; mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
PREHEAT: oven to 375*. Divide dough into 24 balls. Place 1 ball in each of 24 mini muffin pan cups; press onto bottoms and up sides of cups to form shells. Beat egg lightly in small bowl. Add brown sugar and vanilla; mix well. Stir in pecans. Spoon evenly into pastry shells, filling each shell ¾ full.
BAKE 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. Let stand 5 minutes; remove tarts from pans and cook completely on wire racks. Drizzle with melted chocolate, if desired. Let stand until set.

Something else that got rave reviews this fall was pumpkin dip. Another idea if you like it thicker is (cut the recipe in half) and use a box of cheesecake or vanilla pudding in place of the powdered sugar. Makes for an interesting variation. But anyway, this is delicious served with gingersnaps or apples!

Southern Living at HOME®
Creamy Pumpkin Dip
~ 2 (8-oz) packages cream cheese, softened
~ 1 (16-oz) packages powdered sugar, sifted
~ 1 (16-oz) can pumpkin
~ 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
~ 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
* Beat cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer
until creamy ; gradually add sugar, beating well. Stir in pumpkin, cinnamon, and
nutmeg. Serve immediately, or cover and chill. Serve dip with gingersnaps
Yield: 5 cups.

I made ½ a recipe for the party, and it was still a ton!

How could have have forgotten fudge! It would not be Christmas without it.

The pecan bites sound wonderful, great alternative to pie!

Rum balls... might make it a bit easier to get through an afternoon with my carzy MIL. icon_lol.gif

Different types of brownies will be tasty as well.

Thanks for all of the suggestion, I knew I could count on ya'll for some wonderful ideas

The thread about christmas cookie exchange has some great bite size ideas --it has expanded from cookies only to lots of things. I tried the oreo truffles from there and I must say they are easy and YUMMY!

I was going to try mini-fruit cakes for Christmas. I figure if I cut back on the amount of dried fruit and make them small, then it should be a good treat.
