I am not sure if I saw this on CC or if it was on a Food Network episode, but has anyone heard of baking cake crumbs. If so how long would they last in the freezer and out of the freezer?
Instead of using graham cracker crumbs for a cheesecake I could use these hardened cake crumbs or even as a topping for deserts. Almost like bread crumbs except cake.
I know that you can you they on cake decorations. I went to career explorations at Johnson and Wales lastsummer and one of the treats we made was cake. I had already made cakes before but not all the kids has so mine was a little more advanced. The instructor told us not to throw away the part we used to level or the crumbs because you can break it up and use it onthe side, kind of like using a corse sugar or something. I did and it looked really cool.
I also saw something on food network where they combined cake crumbs with a few liquids and turned them into little balls and dipped them in chocolates and decorations and things.
After those two things, I wolud assume you could use them for just about anything. Sounds like a good idea. HTH!
If it works be sure to let us know!
