Dense Cake?

I am baking a stacked cake for a competition and No One will be eating this cake. It is just for looks! (weird i know! lol) How can i make my cake really dense so it doesnt collapse during transport, which is about 2 1/2 hours away?Any tips?

I would use pound cake. If you do not want to make scratch Betty Crocker has a pound cake mix that is really dense. Also there is a recipe on the box of Duncan Hines classic yellow cake mix for pound cake. You add a box of vanilla pudding and an extra egg. I have also used this recipe and find it works great for stacked cakes. Also...another good idea is to use lots of dowel rods and then use a sharpened dowel rod down the center. This will help you transport the cake without any mishaps. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

does it have to be done on real cake?

could you do it on cake dummies instead?

Yeah.. Everything (including the cake) has to be edible! icon_sad.gif But anypne have a idea for a retirement stacked cake? i have a few but nothing to solid yet! Comp. is Jan. 27!!! ahh i need time lol!

What type of job is it for??? Maybe you could make a cute topper with things that are associated with the job. Maybe use some fondant and gumpaste to mold the topper. Then you could decorate each tier with a different design. Hope that helps you some. icon_smile.gif
