Just curious--what has everybody been doing these last couple of week's and next week for Christmas baking? I am about cookied out. Haven't been on here much due to orders. By this evening, I will have made 42 dozen iced Christmas cookies, with 7 more dozen for next week, 14 pies, 9 specialty cakes and 3 decorated cakes.

I have alreeady baked my cakes for next week and put in freezer. I am on vacation from baking outside orders until after Christmas, frosting is already made and in the freezer also, so all I have to do to the cakes due Friday is frost and deliver them (they are specialty cakes--not decorated).

Hope everyone has a great week!

Around christmas time I stear away from the cakes and cookies for baking, since I do them the rest of the year this is the time for me to experiment more. I did one batch of cupcakes for a christmas party, but I usually get more into the candy side of things at christmas.

Here is my list this year.
Caramels -one batch done
Peanut butter Fudge -two batches done two more to go
Dipped peppermint sticks
Oreo truffles
Peppermint bark
Dipped pretzels
Hard candy -usually 3 different flavors
Popcorn-haven't decided on what flavor this year

It will depend on how much time I have if I get a chance to do anymore. I still have two more classes this week (2.5 hours away from my home) and we had company arrive friday that will be with us until Jan 4th.

I haven't even started my personal baking. I plan to make a gingerbread house and cut-out cookies one day.

I am steering away from baking alot of my personal favorites. Since July 2004 I have lost 90 pounds and I don't want to be too tempted. I focus more on spending time with my family during the holidays. The gingerbread house and cookies is a tradition and time well spent with my kids.

I have asked my family to let me know what treats they want. So far, they haven't asked for anything.
I've come to realize that I was the only one eating everything I baked!!

birthdays mostly.

I have three children with December dates. On on the 14th ( he turned 1) another on the 26th ( she will be 13) and my little Melody was born on new year's eve ( she will be three).

My dearest friend's two daughters were born this month also so that was two more cakes.
ided to make individual spaghetti cakes for a youth group meeting last friday. That was fun. My older kids did all the embelishments and we ended up with a kitchen that looked like an Italian resturant. Wee!

I'm not doing any personal baking unless you count the pumpkin bread loaves I handed out last week.

What can I say, you just can't take the kitchen out of the baker. icon_biggrin.gif

This is the time of the year I do most of my baking. My husband and I had our annual Xmas party for friends last night and Xmas Eve will be our party with family.
I have made 1 Gingerbread boy cake, I will be making another cake for Xmas Eve
2 batches of fudge
2 batches of cashew crunch
4 dozen sugar cookies
2 dozen triple chocolate chip cookies
2 dozen molded chocolate candies

Right now I am working on a Army promotion cake for a party this afternoon. Then after New Years I will be doing a baby shower cake for my niece. Then all the birthdays start!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!
